Yes, any ram over 4g will not work with windows unless you run 64 bit. 64 bit has advantages and disadvantages though, not all programs are compatible with it (yet) but most are. Other than that, things tend to run faster on 64bit as opposed to 32bit. If your computer CPU can handle it, go for it.
