Cash bar for my parents 35th Anniversary party?? Does this sound okay?

I'll be perfectly honest with you- I don't see the need in offering bar drinks at all. If you are certain you want alcohol served, then yes, you absolutely can & should have a cash bar. I made the mistake of not doing a cash bar when I threw my cousins wedding shower & wound up with over $600 added to the final bill for a group of 31. For you, buying drinks for 60 people would eat your entire budget- even buying a drink package for 4 hours would cost at the very least $15 per person. I disagree wholeheartedly with the poster above who thinks it's in poor taste to have a cash bar & that your parents would be embarred. This is not a formal event, it's a 35 anniversary get together & your parents will be delighted with anything you do. Considering you're in school, I'm certain nobody is going to expect you & your brother to foot the bar bill.
