Would you put striped ds in a room with an ornate oriental rug over hardwood floors? Conflict?

If the stripes are subdued, meaning not a harsh contrast like black and white, and the colours are picked up from the rug, you should have no problem with the decor. Ideally there should be a few feet of hardwood exposed between the rug and the wall with the ds. It might be beneficial to get a couple of pillows or other items made of the dry fabric so that the stripe motif doesn't look alien on the window wall - tie it into the room's decor a bit more for the best effect.
