Is anyone on the forum a legal immigrant who understands and empathizes with illegal immigrants?

people who whine the most about illegal immigration tend to pit legal and illegal immigrants against one another, claiming its a "slap in the face" to someone who went through the legal process to have people not enter the same way. But in reality there are many people that have been in both roles and also others that realize they are lucky to become legal in the first place because so many never can.
