I really like this girl?

I have liked her from the moment I met her in 7th grade (in 9th grade now). I talk to her a lot and really like her, I can't stop thinking about her. I think i'm in love with her, but she has a boyfriend and he's a jerk. He always talks her into drinking and stuff and she doesn't look like she's happy. I want to be there for her but every time I try to talk to her now her boyfriend looks at me like he's gonna kill me. I could take him but i'm pacifist and don't believe in fighting. I don't want to have to take out her boyfriend to make her think i'm good enough for her. What should I do?
